Statement by the Government of the Republic of Indonesia concerning the Israeli raid and act of violence against the Mavi Marmara
The Government of the Republic of Indonesia condemns the Israeli raid and act of violence against the Mavi Marmara which was carrying international humanitarian asssistance to the Gaza Strip, Palestine on 31May 2010. Based on the information from the Palestinian authority there are as many as 16 confirmed deaths in this raid. The unilateral Israeli blockade against the Gaza strip since January 2009 constitutes a violation of international law and has caused immense sufferings among innocent Palestinians. The Government of Indonesia will work closely with the international community to ensure that Israel is held accountable for its action in accordance with international law.
The Israeli raid against the Marvi Marmara is also illegal as it was carried out in international waters. Through the aforementioned raid and violence, Israel has once again created additional hurdles to the Middle East process which is currently entering a crucial a phase with the launching of the “proximity talks”, as conveyed by President Mahmoud Abbas in his visit to Indonesia on 29 May 2010. The Government of Indonesia will cooperate with the international community to ensure that Israel is held accountable for its action in accordance with international law. Specifically, Indonesia urges the United Nations to discharge its responsibilities in accordance with its Charter, including through investigation of the Israeli attack in order to ensure its accountability.
The Government of Turkey confirmed there are twelve Indonesian nationals on board that vessel. From recent information, the vessel is currently being directed to Afhdod port, approximately 40 kilometers south of Tel Aviv. The Government of Indonesia continues to ascertain the fate of its nationals who reportedly have taken part in the mission.

Menlu Indonesia Bersama Para Menteri Luar Negeri ASEAN dan GCC Mengecam Tindakan Militer Israel Terhadap Kapal Mavi Marmara
Pada Tanggal 1 Juni 2010, Para Menteri Luar Negeri ASEAN Dan Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) telah secara khusus membahas serangan yang dilakukan oleh militer Israel terhadap kapal Mavi Marmara tanggal 31 mei 2010. Atas inisiatif dan usulan Indonesia, para menteri telah menyepakati pernyataan bersama mengenai penyergapan Israel tersebut. isi pernyataan bersama tersebut senafas dengan posisi pemerintah indonesia yang telah disampaikan pada tanggal 31 mei 2010.

JOINT STATEMENT OF FOREIGN MINISTERS OF ASEAN-GCC COUNTRIES At The Second ASEAN-GCC Ministerial Meeting In Singapore On 1 June 2010, The Foreign Ministers Considered The Recent Attacks By The Israeli Authorities Against Personnel Aboard The Humanitarian Vessel, Mavi Marmara On 31 May 2010. The Ministers Strongly Deplored And Condemned This Israeli Raid And Act Of Violence In International Waters. The Ministers Expressed Condolences To The Victims Of The Raid And Solidarity With The People And Government Of Turkey And Other Countries. The Ministers Urged The Immediate Release Of Those Who Are Still Held Hostage By The Israeli Authorities.
The Ministers Called For The Removal Of The Israeli Blockade In Accordance With The Relevant UN Security Council Resolutions, In Particular UN Security Council Resolution 1860. Through The Aforementioned Raid And Violence, Israel Has Once Again Created Additional Hurdles To The Middle East Peace Process Which Is Currently Entering A Critical Phase With The Launching Of The “Proximity Talks”. The Ministers Agreed On The Need For International Cooperation To Ensure That Israel Is Held Accountable For Its Action In Accordance With International Law. Specifically, The Ministers Urged The United Nations To Discharge Its Responsibilities In Accordance With Its Charter, Including Through Investigation Of The Israeli Attack In Order To Ensure Its Accountability.
